Primary Biliary Cholangitis
- Autoimmune disorder characterized by destruction of the intrahepatic ducts
- Most commonly presents among middle-aged women with other autoimmune conditions
Signs and Symptoms
- Presents with progressive jaundice, pruritis, vitamin ADEK deficiency
Investigation
- ↑ ALP, ↑ bilirubin, ↑ cholesterol, antimitochondrial antibody +ve
- Liver biopsy
Management
- Cholestyramine for pruritus
- Ursodeoxycholic acid may slow the progression of the disease
- Liver transplantation
